A modern method of construction
Over 70% of people in the developed world, from Scotland to Australia, live in timber frame housing. Energy efficient and quick to build, you’ll find it performs exceptionally well in hot and cold climates. Among design conscious, environmentally aware home buyers, timber frame construction is immensely popular.
A study carried out by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) shows that modern timber frame construction produces near zero carbon emissions. Easy to maintain and versatile it exceeds the performance of traditionally built properties.
7 great reasons to choose timber frame construction:
- Higher quality, accurate engineering meets or beats regulations
- 30% faster build than brick and block
- Reduced cost with greater project control and faster build
- Flexible design for beautiful, adaptable and durable buildings
- Less material handling means better health and safety
- Proven eco and sustainability credentials
- Happy customers with warmer homes and cheaper bills
The timber frame construction process
An open panel timber frame is covered internally by plasterboard and filled with high performance insulation. Moisture/vapour barriers are built in, then the outer leaf of the wall (typically stone, brick, render or timber) completes the structure.
There are many forms of timber frame construction to choose from, including advanced and closed panel, volumetric and hybrid systems, and a host of exciting, beneficial developments including SIP technology.
SIP technology gives you superior insulation, structural strength and air-tightness. The composite panels are lightweight, quick to erect and avoid the compression shrinkage and cold bridging often associated with stud walls.
